The story

Three rough drawings in red and black ink stack down the page. At the top a ribbon inscribed in Latin crowns a ring that holds a six-pointed star. In the middle, under the words Omnia in uno, all in one, a circle sits inside a triangle inside a square, with small circles at the corners. At the bottom a lizard lies in red flames under the words per me totum, the whole through me. The Wellcome identifies this as folio 3 verso of MS 3175, a 1702 collection of alchemical tracts in French and Latin, stated to have been written by Lascaris. The geometry is the old riddle of the work drawn as a diagram: one matter, worked whole, by one fire.
